UKVIA Combats Vaping Fiction

Published by Paul Larter on 3rd Dec 2019

The UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) has begun an exceptional media campaign to fight harmful scare-stories. UKVIA has had lots of wrong information which causes fear in the heart of those smokers who have been thinking of making a switch and wants to help promote the campaign which only based on truth and honesty.

A full-page message from one of the UK’s leading vaping industry is featured in the National newspapers; the “I and Metro.” Contained in the premium advertising space is a vivid message: “We understand that several reports of lung illnesses recorded in the US is a thing to worry about for about 3.6 million vapers resident in the UK as well as other smokers who are considering to make the switch to an alternative that is less harmful.”

According to UKVIA “The UK Vaping Industry Association which is saddled with the campaign to handle some scare-stories and misinformation geared towards taking British vapers to the tradition smoking of cigarettes. Well, according to the Department of Public Health, England, they advocate that vaping is way less harmful (about 95%) when compared to smoking, and it serves as handy tool to stop smoking”.

“The 3.6 million UK vapers were then reassured by the national campaign, Facts Not Fiction that British vaping standards are elegant enough, and its products are well-regulated. The several cases of illnesses that are been recorded in the US have been linked to some THC black market batches that were been released. That, of course, is not the case here.”

Here are the 3-part advice from the body to vapers and smokers who are considering to make the switch:

1.If you need to make the switch to vape products, seek advice from vape shops or specialist.

2.Vape products should not be purchased from street sellers.Instead, it can be purchased directly from trusted businesses.

3.For any concerns about any vaping product, you can report to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency’s (MHRA) Yellow Card Scheme.

According to John Dunne – Spokesperson from the UKVIA “although it may look like a bold move, we trust that the stakes are justifiable. For ages, vaping has remained one of the most essential harm reduction alternatives for public health for ages. The UKVIA has made up her mind to make sure it protects that potential while also protecting vapers who had already made the life-changing switch. In order to get this done the British public needs to be fed with facts and not fictions. And that is exactly what our campaign delivers.”

What UKVIA seeks to achieve is to get vapers in the country to support this campaign by using the #VapingMatters on their various social media to debunk myths and share success stories about making the switch.

One instance of a success story is Terry Walker, 87 and a retired R&D scientist who has been in the habit of smoking strong and unfiltered cigarettes for about 69 years before making the switch to vaping in 2012 which is about 7 years ago. According to Walker “as at then, I was diagnosed of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and this is the same disease that led to the death of my only son who was 47 years old.”

“When I was given a Lung Function Test, to my surprise, it showed a breathing rate of about 50% from the normal. I went ahead to search the internet for any effect of vaping on my lungs, and this led to having a deal with my surgeon to be checking my lungs function yearly to ascertain what is happening there.”

“Lung function test after 18 months revealed that my breathing had improved to 80%, and 82% after three years, 88% after 5-6 years, thus showing that my there was a stability in my breathing. This led to my good health and quality life despite my nicotine dependency. Also, my chest infection reduced, showing that the body is able to recover from damage within 4-5 years after over 69 years of abuse. Well, my breathing may never get back to 100% due to the irreversible damage the smoking has caused to my alveoli.”

Walker just concluded his 7th annual test, and it was observed that his breathing had improved to 90%. According to him, although the switch from tobaccos has improved my breathing, it is also significant to note that:

My breathing rate has improved from 50% and stabilizes at 88% after 4-5 years

Reduction of chest infections by 37%

Improved quality of life

The switch from smoking tobacco to vaping nicotine doesn’t seem to interfere with the healing properties of the body.

Making the switch from smoking to vaping is NEVER too late.

Adding further, Terry Walker admits that the electronic cigarette has proven to be the best and effective way of delivering nicotine into his system, and this gives room to hardened smokers (like him) to make the switch from smoking cigarette to vaping nicotine in a quick and very effective manner.
